Question to anyone who has a CB Radio and/or HAM Radio - what is a good station to set up now as Communication for important countrywide updates when the Grid goes down in November 13, 14, 15) and we don't know how long it will be down.
The Cybersecurity Drill shutdown will happen at approx. same time as GridX Drill shutdown so I expect we won't be able to access Internet or 12160 to share info. Any suggestions welcome to help us all get prepared in advance and know where we can get "real" News Updates on CB/HAM radios. Many thanks.

I'm still trying to figure out who would be able to transmit when the infamous "grid" goes down?? guess generators, but then hope ya saved a few hundred gallons of gas
Some of the Generators are gas/fuel efficient. I don't have my books with me right now. What about using car batteries as Terri suggested? Do Ham radios use a lot of electricity? I know the CB Radios can operate off car batteries. C Crane company offers hand crank radios but not sure if they will transmit like a CB Radio/Ham radio. I'll have to get back to you on fuel efficient generators when I can lay my hands on my reference books.
Hollyweed - CB Radios are limited in the range of miles they can go. If our Truckers can transmit info on their CB's and relay the info via other Truckers from area to area that would work - albeit not the most efficient way - but it could work.
we dont no stinkin gas
