U.S. to apologize for medical experiments in Guatemala

Government researchers infected patients with syphilis, gonorrhea without their consent in the 1940s

U.S. government medical researchers intentionally infected hundreds of people in Guatemala, including institutionalized mental patients, with gonorrhea and syphilis without their knowledge or permission more than 60 years ago.

Many of those infected were encouraged to pass the infection onto others as part of the study.

About one third of those who were infected never got adequate treatment.

On Friday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius offered extensive apologies for actions taken by the U.S. Public Health Service.

"The sexually transmitted disease inoculation study conducted from 1946-1948 in Guatemala was clearly unethical," according to the joint statement from Clinton and Sebelius. "Although these events occurred more than 64 years ago, we are outraged that such reprehensible research could have occurred under the guise of public health. We deeply regret that it happened, and we apologize to all the individuals who were affected by such abhorrent research practices."

The apology was directed to Guatemala and to Hispanic residents of the United States, according to officials.

"The people of Guatemala are our close friends and neighbors in the Americas," the statement says. "As we move forward to better understand this appalling event, we reaffirm the importance of our relationship with Guatemala, and our respect for the Guatemalan people, as well as our commitment to the highest standards of ethics in medical research."

Guatemalan STD medical experiments were just one crime in a long history of medical-government collusion to use humans as guinea pigs

(NaturalNews) It has now been widely revealed that the United States conducted medical experiments on prisoners and mental health patients in Guatemala in the 1940's. Carried out by a government-employed doctor working in a psychiatric hospital, these experiments involved intentionally infecting Guatemalans with syphilis (and other STDs) without their knowledge in order to determine the effectiveness of penicillin. They were sponsored in part by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and they've now been widely reported by ABC News, the Washington Post and many other mainstream papers (who have suddenly taken an interest in a subject they normally wouldn't touch).
The outrage against this inhumane medical science experiment is reflected in mainstream news headlines across the globe, and the Guatemalan government now characterizes this sad chapter in U.S. history as a "crime against humanity." News reporters are shocked in reporting the story, and U.S. government officials seem to be almost beside themselves in discovering that this ever took place in America.

But what you're about to reveal here will shock you even more. The U.S. medical experiments on Guatemalan citizens, you see, barely scratch the surface of the criminal experiments the U.S. government and the medical industry has carried out on innocent victims over the last century.

The U.S. pretends to be surprised
The discovery of this medical experiment generated a series of official U.S. responses that can only be called political theater given how contrived they are. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton went on the record saying, "Although these events occurred more than 64 years ago, we are outraged that such reprehensible research could have occurred under the guise of public health... We deeply regret that it happened, and we apologize to all the individuals who were affected by such abhorrent research practices."

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the discovery "reprehensible," and President Obama even picked up the phone to call Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom and offer a verbal apology.

US Government’s Human Experimentation Apology: They’re Only Sorry They Were Caught

Countless examples prove atrocious experiments are routine

The US government has today apologised for intentionally infecting almost 700 people in Guatemala with sexually transmitted diseases in the 1940s, however, it has not apologised for countless other similar atrocious experiments and programs that it has engaged in and continues to engage in, amounting to an all out biological and chemical warfare attack on humanity.

NBC News today carries the story that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius have offered extensive apologies for actions taken by the U.S. Public Health Service between the years of 1946-48.

During this time, US medical researchers, along with the Guatemalan government, intentionally infected 696 Guatemalan men and women with gonorrhea and syphilis without their knowledge or permission.
