Social networking pioneer who took on Facebook commits suicide at age 22, (Yeah Right!)

Does this talented Youngster sound suicidal to you? This talented young man had just raised more than $200,000 for the project through the online fundraising system Kickstarter.

Of course, after such an accomplishment...he invariably had nothing else to live for. The BULLSHIT METER is pinging to the point of breaking!!

Social networking pioneer who took on Facebook commits suicide at age 22

By Jessica Satherley and Michael Zennie

A 22-year-old social networking pioneer and Internet privacy advocate who dared to challenge Facebook and Google is dead.

Ilya Zhitomirskiy died Saturday after San Francisco police were summoned for a reported suicide, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Mr Zhitomirskiy was one of the founders Diaspora*, a new social networking service meant to give users more control of their information online, and sought to lure people away from bigger sites like Facebook, Google and Twitter.

SHTFgirl, thank you so very much for carrying out your own research before commenting. I stand in awe. I do not have a Twitter account, so did not know of the daily tweets, so you have shed even more light upon this admittedly murky story.

What set off all my alarm bells was even simpler. Think, this young man just said to himself, "Hmmm, All of this work and it's about to pay off! I'm going to be a millionaire, with hot chicks begging for dates with me, and Wired News will do a series on me, and I'll only have to work whenever I damn well please! So, I guess I will just kill myself....."

Somehow, I just don't think so.

Thanks again for your informative commentary. Kudos!

Thank you for posting this.  I never heard of him or his company, but will now be keeping an eye out for news on the investigation...if there is one.  And I totally agree, as many people probably will, that this death is suspicious.  I mean he had everything going for him and just two weeks ago was a presenter at a convention about how human rights can help the bottomline and this company he co-founded was just about to have their official launch this week or next.  They had thousands of people signed-up already and were making $500 to $1000 per day in DONATIONS.  Several venture capital companies wanted to invest and they said NO, unlike other social network companies who claimed to be 'anti-facebook'.   If anyone wants to learn more about this company, I suggest finding them on Twitter and following them.  You can see all the things they were doing day by day and perhaps come to the same conclusion Freedomrox and I did....something doesn't add up.  Also, I see a post from an employee on or around 10/31st resigning for 'personal reasons'...well if he is tweeting this, I am thinking he 'maybe' someone of importance and my paranoid mind wonders if he was experiencing harassment from an undetermined person/s or company rep of a competitor.  The articles I read made it sound like Diaspora could be a Game Changer....You be the judge.  Anyways, I joined and will be moving my Facebook account over to them.  Fuck Zuck!

Mark Zuckerberg gets hot under the collar over your privacy issues and sweats

Just in case you didn't read the article linked above, it is claimed Mark Zuckerburg praised and contributed to Diaspora....

Well, does this sound as if that is something he would do after this interview?
