What a brilliant, and yes, honest, script for Jeff Daniels - seems to me, that people with the name Aaron, in the film industry (Russo) have done some good things.

BTW: I agree with CH - people can't handle the truth.

Seems to me that the soliloquy is based on a false premise. He, or I should say the screen writer, is saying that Americas greatness is measured by the acts of its govt. Nonsense! Our greatness has always been, and always will be, the beating hearts of its sovereign citizens. Now, whether there are fewer citizens aware of their sovereign status now than in times past or whether a govt not of our making is 'representing' us or citizens are not taking on the responsibilities liberty requires, is a different subject.

There is one thing we are the greatest in WE THE PEOPLE STILL HAVE GUNS ... we have not YET been disarmed like the rest of the godforsaken world & we are STILL the only country in the world that STANDS STILL in the way of TOTAL WORLD GOVERNMENT.. limping along from 100yrs of secret government demoralization we are because of more information waking up .. we have been lied to from the TOP down .. it took 100yrs to get us in this tattered position ..  we MUST HAVE HAD QUITE A FOUNDATION  & Our constitution is still rivaled in all the world ... No one has been able to defeat it YET  as the most liberating document ever crafted ..
