Protecting your home against hostile attacks is becoming more important  day by day. Anyone can become a victim of a hostile attack in his proper home. You can get tasered, beaten or even killed for no reason at all. The attack is most likely to happen during early hours while you are sound asleep. Therefore, the defense needs to be planned carefully. A strategic home defense plan should consider the forces and equipment used against you and the defense weapons, equipment, machinery, chemicals, automation and structures. I'll come back to those later. First of all the reader must consider what kind of home defense is legal in his country and proceed accordingly.

The home defender will have to confront well equipped overpowering forces that will use tear gas, flash bang bombs that will blind and deafen the victim, nonlethal and lethal weapons, night vision, high volume noise, gas masks and what else. They will come by late hours counting on the surprise factor, but they can be surprised also if they try to enter a well protected home with booby trapped entrances, automated system with electroshock, fire and chemicals. The surprise will give home defender time to get up and get to his guns while the invader is recovering from the surprise caused by automatic defense system.

While there are many ways you can defend your home here is one simple and cheap method that can be automatic and triggered by forced entrance by doors. This does not mean that you don't need guns to defend your home, it is only the first step. I introduce here the idea of Fire Cannon, a light weight cannon that will give the first response to the unexpected intruders. The cannon consists of a PCV pipe with a pipe cap, loaded with black gun powder and flammable liquid that is dispersed towards the intruder.

I have selected PVC as the material due to its availability and cheap price. This is resistant enough for a single use cannon that will blast a light liquid mass at a distance of ten to twenty feet. Those needing stronger cannon can use standard steel piping material. The cannon consists of the following parts:

1. 4" PVC pipe, length one foot

2. PVC pipe cap glued to the pipe

3. Light charge of black gun powder for smoke effect and discharge of the inflammable or irritating substance. It can be reloading gun powder or recovered from fire crackers.

4. Padding to protect gunpowder and the liquid

5. A package of inflammable or irritating liquid

6. Ignition device

The ignition device can consist of a thin steel wire put inside the gunpowder and connected with insulated copper wires to a battery and automatic switch that is triggered by forced opening of the door. The switch connects the battery to the steel wire that will heat up and ignite the gun powder. The liquid projectile can be flammable or made of easily available irritating chemicals like bleach.
