Report: NSA intercepted electronics shipments to secretly install malicious software, hardware

The sophisticated hacking unit of the National Security Agency (NSA) has intercepted electronics shipments in order to covertly install malware and hardware that allows for backdoor access to computers, according to a new report.

This latest revelation comes after a federal judge ruled the NSA’s mass surveillance program to be legal, the White House review panel sharply criticized many NSA programs and it was revealed that the NSA paid an influential security company to compromise their pr....

The report, published by Germany’s Der Spiegel, reveals that the secretive NSA Office of Tailored Access Operation (TAO) actually physically compromises many electronics before they reach their final destination.

TAO, which Der Spiegel calls “the NSA’s top operative unit — something like a squad of plumbers that can be called in when normal access to a target is blocked” works closely with the FBI and CIA.

The group can reportedly direct shipping deliveries to their own secret workshops, a technique called “interdiction,” when a target individual, agency or company orders a new computer or accessory.

Shipping companies remain tight-lipped over NSA reportedly intercepting packages

ordered a new / old hi-speed modem off ebay for 12$...old school(2004), simple square box, 4 lights, no wireless, just a Westell DSL modem...piece of "New" junk my ISP gimme (an "all-n-1" type, wireless, 4 ports, etc) was junk, didnt pass my VOiP signal correctly, & generally slow. this westell I had ordered took forever to get here from Alabama??, so just for safety measures, I took it apart to see if anything extra was added to the board, there was not. BUT, found a copy of the OEM 2004 firmware and re-flashed it anyways to make sure ;) downloads are a bit faster and my phone works like it's supposed to now...newer isn't always better

Had heard story's of ebay modems gone missing after ordering then finally show up late, only to find an extra wireless do-dad added on for unknown reasons....sneaky bastiches

You know they say lying and stealing go hand in hand. They lie to us to steal our money! Then they have to spy on us to make sure they got of milked dry!

How else can they accomplish what they want without being sneaky? (Bastiches), you are being too kind again Hollywood, lol :)

The pirates, drug dealers and usurpers running the world think they are the max of us all. What a delusion.

Less....WOW.....speechless almost ;)

I kind of suspected this, but seeing it on paper is astounding.

Suberb. Try to get this on a Skeptics website and you will be banned for life. They hate facts

If you want safe data processing, separate your computer from the internet in Faraday's cage to block all radio transmission. It means you'll need an underground bunker with metal door or a windowless room with metal lining. A mobile phone is a good test equipment for seeing if the room is protected. If there is no mobile phone network, your room is probably safe. You can have another computer for surfing internet and transfer document by USB drive to the main computer. Computers can be connected with cables.

By the way, better use Linux or other open source operation system that you can control rather than the Windows spying OS.

Linux Ubuntu is the shizzinit ;) its open source, bug free, and its FREE

Ubuntu: The world's most popular free OS

RAGEMASTER bug is used to spy on what you have on your monitor screen. It taps the red video line on the VGA cable, so they are blind for black blue and green. What about using a green or blue back ground in your documents and internet sites?
