Everyone is talking about the top sellers on Amazon.co.uk. Clubs and baseball bats have skyrocketed. In fact the nightstick listed as #1 below is no longer offered for sale

With riots continuing in several major English cities today, residents are apparently preparing to defend themselves, according to some of the more popular items on Amazon UK.

As noted by The Guardian, the most popular items in the "Sports & Leisure" section of amazon.co.uk are a night stick and a variety of baseball bats. That night stick, however, currently goes to a dead link. Eight out of the top 10 selections, meanwhile, are bats—from a Rucanor aluminum bat for £17.15 to a Bronx baseball bat and ball set for £8.99.

If someone plans to defend themselves against the current riots with one of Amazon's items, however, they might be out of luck. The Rucanor bat has a wait time of four to six weeks while the next most popular item is listed as currently unavailable.

Nonetheless, a concerned citizen urged Amazon on a discussion board to ban the sale of the Rucanor bat. "It is obviously currently abused as a cheap, quick weapon to be used in the london riots. ban it now!" wrote Patrick.

As Dan pointed out, however, "mindless rioting idiots dont seem like the type to log on to amazon to get a good deal on a baseball bat online."
