[Updated at 2:01 p.m.] New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said low-lying sections of the city, mostly along the city's waterfront, are under mandatory evacuation orders. The mandatory evacuations, which affect all five boroughs, are the first in New York's history, he said.

I don't know if anyone has noticed or not but there is at least a possiblity that this storm could hit Washington D.C. right on the heels of the earthquake. God may be about to send a warning to a government that ought to listen.By the way,i notice that Obama and his family are convinently out of town on another expensive vacation at taxpayer expense, continuing to pressure Isreal into giving up land for peace. GOD IS NOT MOCKED!!!!!!

Projections have been downgraded. Looks like it will hit at only CAT 2.

 

Still a strong storm, but not as bad as they were saying just the other day.

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Friday warned Americans to take Hurricane Irene seriously and urged them to obey orders to evacuate from the path of what is likely to be an "extremely dangerous and costly" storm.

I lived in south Florida in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew, if you have extra food, water, batteries, fuel and other provisions get extra stuff.  I watched the very slow response in south Miami Dade County.
