@Less, If your shooting at drones the situation is dire so stray bullets is not a big concern. Bullets fired straight up or close to it fall at terminal velocity approximately 200mph-300mph and the statistical probability of one hitting someone directly on their bare head is almost nil, also why you need a helmet in battle as shit is raining down as well as every other hazard. Tracers are a big help in hitting aircraft, if you can salvage or steal a M2 .50 in battle those would be priceless in AA roles for helos and low flying anything (3000 yard plus range).

Using RF to Jam or Spoof is complex and for most people won't be available, Jammers are also shoot me targets basically you set one up and run leaving it as an expendable munition, very expensive considering the cost of a mluti-thousand watt setup which is whats needed depending on range to target. Also KU band(11ghz-18) is directional so you would need to have a system to track the drone and wash it with a directional KU antenna. Spoofing might be the way to go in the beginning if they haven't fixed their GPS system yet (possible). With spoofing you might be able to capture one like the Iranians did. Insert Skills Here LOL

Brian or Donna, you probably have to make a special antenna for a RC airplane to be able to take it to the required altitude. Also fuel tank has to be bigger than normal. There are also video piloted model air crafts.

Any way you take them down, it still wont be safe.. Remember, if you take it out, it's going to crash somewhere.. There are guns, and people capable of taking things out at over 1000 yards now.

Most drones can fly way above the hight to be shot down.
Best bet would be software drivin, or radio waves jamming. Or like Laser said, with your own RC aircraft. I have a few Rc toys, one being a  Styrofoam that can fly over 200 mph. But not sure how high it would fly though.

Drone's strength is their ability to operate outside of fire arm range. In practice, you could shoot down a drone at  200 yard but then the stray bullets can do damage when they come down. There are circumstances when you can do it safely. Best option is to use radio waves or laser because then you can reach much further without risking anyone.

Jammers, GPS spoofing and RC aircraft of your own to ram their drones... and if they are low enough small arms fire will absolutely destroy them.

The drones have already been hacked by isreal programers. Insurgents in Iraq used software such as Skygrabber to hack into American drones. a professor and research team in Texas.... The University of Texas at Austin's Radionavigation Laboratory demonstrated hacking a civilian drone, forcing it to change course by sending fake GPS signals
and who knows how many others... I did Geo-Coding for a living, and that is yet another way to "Hack", or redirect drones.. gps jamming, shoot, there are tons of ways to do it..

I was refering to high load carrying metals....gold and other precious metals can carry astounding amounts of amperage for short periods as in any high voltage as well...remember an inch of copper #6 ground wire can carry the load for appx 7000-10000population city. You can find what u want if u keep looking. Radioshack had a book on electronic communication...all the way to microwave frequencies and how to build a rectangular reciever of the microwave frequency. Any cheap has the ability to do this if u know how to change electrical types ac/dc was the proper order of the band's name right.? Big hint...in large trauma or ICU area use those small monitors that keep track of 3 or more seperate vital signs...have so much voltage I had to use a flat head screwdriver about a foot long! It was made of about 10" of very protective hard insulative material molded as an average screw driver. Well, I am sounding flakey or crazy....either way this all in books at large city libraries but state universities carry MUCH MORE REFERENENCE MATERIAL! jIMMYTHADRUMMER.....and Jesus is just alright with me.

a proper powered EMP would to...get some discarded cell phones and any computers. (check alleys with dumpsters n a heavy banking stretch because the banks,they upgrade whole lans n wans) there are interesting amounts of capacitors, boards with alot of precious metals to extract, etc for free. Why is this relevant? Gold, aluminum, even palladium(jewlers call it white gold) and each has specific properties for reuse in the right fashon. This idea was kinda made to look almost impossible on 'Oceans 11' I believe. Get a good college level electrical enginners text or an independant of same type. May be easier with a extensive book on creating or building digital circuits for communication or other high electromagnetic circuits in general.....

Ku and Cband...simple enough there, these are the same as your DBS "Sat" TV (DISHNET or DirecTV-US/ BELLE-CAN) C-band was used mainly on the 1st BUD'S (Big Ugly Dishes, usually 6' - 24') So parts to build something anti-drone would be feasible if ya can get freq codes ;)

Hacked the crap outta all 3 systems for 10 years (1999-2009) when they finally fixed the backdoor routine we used to access.Also worked for Hughes on their beta stage Hughes-Net I-net sat service (still sux) then installed and run QC checks over 15 installers in DC for DISH, so I think I know a tad bit about the beams ;)

Now what knocks out your sat-tv signal sometimes, for as long as 15-30 minutes??? Heavy cloud, obstructions,snow, rain,etc Come up w/ something artificial, or figure out the frequency its tuned to, then add the noise boys ;) I read somewhere a while back that the HAM folk have the capability of knocking em out. canot friggin find the article now (hmmmm)
