Clay tablets from 2000B.C.
The Gateway to History by Allan Nevins. It states on pg. 103 at the end of the first paragraph, 2000 yr. old clay tablets were discovered concerning the time of King Hammurabi. "Babylonian production and commerce had been thoroughly organized by that keen business sagacity which has marked the Semitic race ever since."
Is that not amazing?! Over four thousand years of written proof, and still we need more? I think that the word race was wrongly used though. Semites can be several different races of people. I think we all know which religion he was hinting about. Semitic businessmen predate the Codification of their religion by Moses. I don't know about you but I am amazed!

Hammurabi's code is not only one of the oldest writings known to the world, but one of the oldest legal/contract codes - it influenced Mosaic law and that of the Hittites & Assyrians.
However, the Code of Ur-Nammu predates the Code of Hammurabi by 300 years.
