Well let me share with you an actual event that transpired tonight on my way home from removing a lecher out of my house. Don't get me wrong I believe in paying it forward and helping others out, but not when they take full advantage of hospitality and kindness and take that as being a weakness. They are now gone and no longer welcome in my home.
My son had an employee who appeared to be down on their luck, their engine seized. In order to ensure my son had an employee to cover his shifts I
I offered to lend them our spare car until their car was repaired and allowed them to stay at our home.
BIG MISTAKE!
I figured it would take 2 weeks tops to get his car repaired since the garage said they had the engine for it.. well 2 MONTHS later to the date I drove him back to the city where most of his "family" resides and dropped him and all his stuff on the front porch.
He still doesn't have his car, but at the rate this is going it will be a year before he gets his wheels back. I mean while he hasn't chipped in a dime towards food utilities yet is paying his brother rent money for a place he isn't even staying in. I am a generous person and don't seek repayment for offering a helping hand, but seriously enough is enough, 2 weeks time was plenty in my opinion for an engine to be removed and installed. I have done my share of automotive repairs and if I can manage to pull an engine and install one in two days without access to a lift and cherry picker then by all means there is no way this mechanic should be stalling an engine repair job out to two months time.
Now Friday when the guy told him he would have it done Saturday, I said well this is the third time i have heard that and since you will be starting a new job in another company on Monday and no longer working for my son. After your shift I will drive you back to your home and you can figure out how to get your car back on your own and figure a way to get to your new job as well. Staying here is not conducive to you accomplishing either.
Offered to treat us out to dinner (that never happened) and left my car on empty, when it was full when he started to use it . That is the gratitude for him eating meals here showering watching television playing videos. My family even paid him 140.00 to work for 14 hours hauling branches and painting to help him get the money together to pay for his engine repair and by him staying at our house he only had a mile to drive to work instead of 50 miles one way.Over all his staying here probably on rough estimate saved him 800.00 on the low side.
So anyway, driving home, I was only 900 yards from my driveway, I see flashing lights and I pull over, go to pop my car in park and I slammed it in park rather than brake first. which jolted the car to a halt.
the cop shines his flash light in my eyes.. so i can't see him asks me for my license registration and insurance.
I fumble in the glove box for my folder pull out the registration and think it is out of date then realize it is still current ready to expire next month. fumble in my handbag for the drivers license hand both to him. he asks me if i have an issue with my brakes? I said no, i don't believe so. he said well the car jolted what happened did you slam it in park. I said yeah, i guess i did. he said well that happens sometimes. He then asked me again for my insurance, which I fumbled in the folder for it and handed it to him.
Then he noticed a pill bottle with no label in my handbag and asked what it was .. i said it is empty and I use it for my supplements (i take lumbrokinaise) but it was empty when i put it in my bag and it is still empty. He said do you know that is illegal. I said seriously? are you kidding me.. he said no if it were any other officer pulling you over you would get a ticket for that.
He asked me if I knew why i was pulled over I said NO. he said your head light is out,, I said no it isn't. if i hit a bump it goes out and if i hit another one it goes on all i have to do is get out of my car and hit the corner of it and it will pop back on ,, or hit another bump.
I have had it to the garage and they can not figure out how to fix it .
Then I made the comment that 40 years ago this whole incident wouldn't be happening he asked what do you mean. I said I wouldn't be here over my head light and pill bottles were not illegal to carry around.
He proceeded to inform me that people screw up and new laws are made for hat fact. I said well the laws are becoming ridiculous. He said that may well be but so long as they are there and people break them, there will be more.
Then I had to make the remark. How on earth can everyone know every law in order to not break them? I mean seriously I know you don't know every law there is that was ever written they are constantly changing every day. I have a paralegal degree and I know I don't know every law and I know lawyers aren't even close to knowing all the laws they uphold. so how is it that every person is supposed to know every darn law there is.
I think I burst his bubble and he was dumb founded. he said well I am certain you can drive your car home. as I was in fact less than 900 yards from my drive way.
