Our childhood memories and education will help us survive. Such as simply building a crystal set radio just in case you cannot afford batteries. With gas and food going up, so will batteries will be going up. We must learn on how to do these things even if it's building the board on a glad trash bag box, using existing hookup wire, even speaker wire will do. All you need to do is take the speaker wire apart and keep the other lead for the antenna and some for the ground rod connection. The summer is coming, and while gas prices are up to $4.00 to $5.00 a gallo batteries will get expensive. If you can afford it, try to use A/C adapters instead of batteries fo your radios and keep them plugged in. There are kits and plans out there for crystal set radios and you can build it out of a shoe box like regular radio. Even there is plans out there for home made variable tuning capacitors. Razor blades are good detectors as well. We will be talking about this after James approve this group. Join us if you are interested in hearing Alex Jones without electricity on AM and Shortwave.
Building a shortwave radio coil requires some knowledge. It may require 8 to 20 turns of 24 awg wire. If you know electronics here is aL/C calculator.

YUUUP Im ready-i dot know squat but i want to l earn. Maybe it would be nice to have a school here in that it would be a step by step learning curve. I guess what im getting at is what do the markings mean. Like an ohm sign and things like this.The only reason i ask of this is because it is on a radio speaker i have. Im clueless and that not my avatar name-hahahaha However if one must have a radio when u have to BO then one could make it out of a tree branch. Just an analogy here lol- but when u have nothing out ther you would want the basics. This is what im after and if this could ever come to pass ill be the 1st student to sighn up. Maybe a morse code class also. I have been thinking about this.If all else ever failed one would go back to basics again . So why not know what you here and keep it 2nd nature. Just a thot from an old guy. Thanks - guys- E
OHMS = RESISTANCE
MOST speakers for example normally have an 8 ohm "load", in other words its not a direct "short", there is some resistance in there so if you would put an ohm meter across the 2 spkr leads, it would not read 0.0 (Dead short) but more like 7.5 - 8.2 ohms which is the amount of resistance. You must have resistance in order for a circuit to function properly.
electronics can be boiled down to this equation
V or E = I x R
which means I=current(amps) times R="Resistance" equals I or E="Voltage"
can be equated as such as well - where I is the product of dividing the Voltage over the Resistance
its called Ohm's law, named after Georg Ohm.
