Now, dagnabit, I keep telling people, rats are affectionate, loyal, curious, intelligent and have remarkable compassion. Nothing like Joos. When Hitler was elected, he was shown the top scientific laboratories. When he saw what scientists were doing to rats, he flew into a rage. People were fired, and animal experimentation was summarily banned.

I've kept rats, on and off, since 1998. I can vouch for the fact that they are great companion animals. Once one of our rats developed a benign fatty tumor, which often happens to rats. My ex worked in surgery, and she brought home instruments and local anesthetic, and we removed the tumor. The sight of blood doesn't normally bother me (several people can verify this), but this was my friend. Shawn looked over at me and chuckled, and said "You sweat more than a doctor", lol. Mrs. White Rat outlived her sisters, by the way. I'll forgive you, this one time, steve. ;o)
