One verse in the Bible has always stuck with me, I suppose thanks in large part to my mother over my young adult life reciting it to me: 1Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
I had a few friends over yesterday and I made this point to them to explain to them why it appears I have changed so much the past few years. These friends have been friends since high school so it is sometimes difficult for them to understand how someone who used to watch shows like the Daily Show or South Park or Family Guy "loose" his sense of humor. What I tell my friends and others is that I have not lost my sense of humor but that it has "grown up" and I have set aside the toilet humor that only conditions "apathetic" inaction in many of us, myself included.
In my humble opinion Jon Stewart is a prime example of the establishment's slick, fresh and new stylized propoganda machine at work. Don't get me wrong, Stewart and his counterpart Stephen Colbert make many lucid points and I find myself in agreement on many issues. However, painting the portrait that "9-11 Truthers" are mentally deranged, does not fit into my world view. And while Stewart pretends to be the voice of reason, he is actually just as divisive as the likes of Glen Beck or Anderson Cooper. The television-induced matrix with all its personalities only sews more seeds of distrust while padding their followers' egos by subtly constructing social perceptions of those of us who are "too busy" (according to Stewart) to do the necessary research to formulate our own oipinions using our own reasoning skills and understanding.
I think it the establishment is attempting a "soft attack" via the media to paint those of us who do not believe in the original 9-11 conspiracy explanation as idiots and mental patients so that fewer of our American brethren will consider researching the truth knowing that they would face similar insults and character defamation. The herd mentality at work here. The establishment is attempting to keep the herd in line because many of the herd have already begun to stray so if they can label and demonize this other herd that has been forming, those of us who are still sucked into the t.v.-induced matrix will more than likely stay on the sidelines (where the establishment wants us).
Wow, it is so funny that when a friend of mine brought up the Jon Stewart Rally, via email my first thought was, "this is a comedy show that has some pull for people who want to laugh. he is going to make a mockery out of something." I see that he uses comedy to push an agenda.
I also did catch that part where he was saying "he was too busy so it will only be for 3 hours."
I caught alot of what you did. Thanks, you make me feel not so crazy. I even thought that I was maybe looking to deep into this.
