Prince George's Councilwoman Karen Toles was pulled over for allegedly going 105 mph in a 55 mph zone, rather than getting 5 points (out of 8 before getting her license suspended) and a recommended fine of $530, she got let off with a warning.
Via WUSA9:
A police source tells 9News Now that Toles was traveling more 105 mph on the Capital Beltway when she was pulled over by police on February 22.
The traffic stop happened around Noon that day, near Branch Avenue, police said.
Toles was cited for an unsafe lane-change, a $90 fine and was given a warning for excessive speed, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Sources told 9News Now Toles was going almost 50 miles per hour faster than the posted speed limit when she was spotted by police.
"The issuance of a warning citation for the speed is consistent with the typical discretion applied by police officers to speeding motorists. The traffic violations were captured on the police officer's in-car camera, and the incident will be subject to command review. At the moment, the video is evidence in a pending District Court traffic case, and will not be released," police said in a news release.
The Councilwoman later issued a statement saying she was "late for an appointment."
Whoever said "crime doesn't pay" clearly never worked for the government.

Driving at 105 MPH is a thrill and a lot of fun, too. The imposed restrictions have nothing to do with the ability of the car or driver it is just that most people are comfortable driving between 65MPH and 85MPH. So you just have to obey the rules like the shitty speed limits or don't get caught or pay the fine or pay off the right people, you know, the usual.
