On deafened ears I sought alone
To hunt for shelter in the cold
Slipping on a frigid precipice
I shivered and relented to the struggle
I inadvertently tumbled
The coldness rendered me numb
I looked to the wind and it didn’t answer
Trembling I felt the weeds strangling
Mute…. I fell slowly
The wind that once held me in laughter
Mocked me when I thought I was master
The trees kept me still
