San Diego Gas and Electric said the outage appears to have originated in Arizona and that the agency is working with California power officials to bring the power back. Officials said the outages extended across Southern California and into Arizona and Baja California.

Gil Alexander, a spokesman for Southern California Edison, said the power outage did not cause any safety issues. Alexander said a fluctuation in power caused the reactors to shut down at 3:38 p.m. but that the overall plant continues to have power.

Darcel Hulce said that crews Thursday believe the outage was caused by a system breakdown [?!?] and assured people it was not the result of a terror attack. All outgoing flights from San Diego's Lindbergh Field have been halted and police stations are using generators to accept emergency calls.

I live above San Diego in the mountains. They tell me it will be at least 3 days before we get service restored in the outlaying areas. I hope I have enough fuel for the generator for three or more days , glad i didn't go grocery shopping today. One bright note is the sky view will be fantastic.
