When you can't be gentle or true
It's just the beast inside of you
Always thinking you need someone new

If you think you're one of the few
You're more gifted than anyone you knew
Telling each lover that you're through
Their pain means nothing to you,
And when the sky is no longer blue
And your thoughts are rather skewed
When you think you'll come unglued
All those cruel words that you spewed,

You can't see the forest for the view
You've never had to pay your dues
Walking over others like it's a cruise
It's just the beast inside of you,
When you've drank from the witch's brew
And reality is no longer two plus two
Too late to kneel at the church pew
It's just the beast inside of you.
