The yellow vest movement started in France in September 2018 operates also in Finland making a tour of ten Finnish cities during the spring and summer this year. The tour starts from Tampere on April 13, 2019 and ends in front of the parliament on August 8.

Everybody is welcome. The only requirement is peaceful participation. The dress code is yellow vest of course, also available from the organizers.

The yellow vest movement is a symptom caused by a global overall systemic crisis. The current monetary and political systems are centuries old. They have been artificially kept alive for decades, but they are heading for a collapse with ever increasing speed. The decision makers either don’t understand or don’t want to understand that the problems stem from these same systems, therefore they cannot be resolved with their own mechanisms. However, as problems are constantly tried to be resolved with these mechanisms, the same that cause them in the first place, they are even further aggravated.

This appears as growing misery, people working more and more while their living standards plummet as their wages have less purchasing power when compared to the cost of living. There are many poor working Frenchmen, who run out of money before the next salary. The same is true in many other countries, including Finland. In the meantime the multinational corporations make more and more profits and avoid taxes.

One of the main reasons for this is the nature of money that in effect is debt. The banks create new money when they issue debt. Therefore the debt cannot be reduced but is in exponential growth.

Another problem is that in order for the monetary system to function it has to continue its exponential growth, resulted from the money creation process. The corporations and governments want continuous growth. However, what they call growth is not growth in economy, but in the money sector. Economics is a science of controlling the natural and other resources, with the principal objective of efficient resource utilization, not growth.

These and many other reasons together have led to up of the yellow vest movement being born. It is also by the same reason that the turmoil in society will grow with high probability. The yellow vest movement is here to stay, demanding a change in the system. That change is proposed by a tool that goes by an acronym RIC, référendum d’initiative citoyenne in French, a referendum initiated by the people.

The yellow vesters come from many sectors of society. Plumbers, computer specialists, chefs, managing directors, captains, doctors, nurses, care assistants, teachers, policemen, firemen, unemployed, retirees, students, and so on. The objectives of the Finnish yellow vest movement are appearing in public places to talk with people, to distribute information of the global state of affairs and to discuss why the movement is needed. Another reason is meeting people in the movement who for some reason cannot travel to Helsinki, for example. By touring in other towns we see each other, share ideas face to face and increase togetherness.

As a final point, the yellow vest movement is not collective but multipolar. It means that every yellow vester represents only himself. Therefore, everyone is responsible for his/her own actions, and only that. No-one can lead or represent the movement, wherefore it has neither leaders nor representatives. For this reason what has been said here is naturally just my own view.
