Vaccine scandal: Many children suffered incurable brain disease
H1N1 vaccine Pandemrix is suspected to have caused many Swedish and Finnish children the rare neurological disorder narcolepsy.

The mass vaccination, as Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland performed as swine flu H1N1 three years ago broke out, has by all accounts suffered many Swedish and Finnish children the debilitating and incurable brain disorder narcolepsy.

The new figures from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, which has calculated how many are affected by the disease, in particular manifested by irresistible sleep attacks and sudden muscle paralysis.

The suspect vaccine called Pandemrix. It was the one who accounted for more than two thirds of total consumption in the EU, including in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Sweden and Finland as many people vaccinated against H1N1, and it is there that by far most have narcolepsy. In Finland, 121 had been hit by the otherwise extremely rare brain disease. In Sweden, 168 vaccinees, hence the 150 children had the disease.


The Medicines Agency said Dr. Doris Stenver from the department of consumer safety:

"Although we generally do not permit us to say that there is a correlation between the use of Pandemrix and the increase in narcolepsy cases, we can not get away from that there seems to have been a consistency in Sweden and Finland, but that it is some local issues which arise. "

Local conditions, Doris Stenver alludes to is a virus that has destroyed the immune system:

"In Sweden and Finland, in contrast to EU countries in general, been able to demonstrate a link between narcolepsy and Pandemrix. The theory is in Finland, the virus has a locally circulated at the same time that vaccinated a very significant number of children. The virus has so influenced the immune system, and it has further paved the way for the many cases of narcolepsy, "explains Doris Stenver.

"In Denmark there has been no increase in the volume of narcolepsy. This has in turn been in Sweden, and since it is so close to Denmark, the difference is very difficult to explain by example. a local virus if it is just not about that Swedes have also vaccinated many more children than we have in Denmark, "she says.

Also in Norway, where 30 children have narcolepsy, is currently a fierce debate about the vaccine program.

In total more than 36 million children and adults across the EU vaccinated against influenza virus type H1N1, and was used four different vaccines.

In Sweden, a study previously demonstrated that children and adolescents under 20 years can have a four times higher risk for narcolepsy if they are vaccinated with Pamdemrix, compared to those not vaccinated.

As a consequence, Denmark will no longer use the medicine and the EU, the vaccine is not used to young people under 20 years.

The information appears at the same time, new figures from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control reveals that mass vaccination against swine flu barely saved lives.

Sweden vaccinated 60 percent of the population against swine flu, Germany 8 percent, Denmark just 6 percent, and Poland, no. But the mortality rate in countries were not in proportion to the forces which health authorities began on the 21 century's first pandemic.
