If they didn't drop ringers like Trump into the equation, things would get real too soon for the PTB.

This is why Australia has compulsory voting (with fines if you don't vote) - and why Gordon Brown and the IPPR, the Institute for Public Policy Research - the self described 'the UK's leading progressive thinktank' in the UK and Obama in the US called for mandatory voting - got to keep the illusion going.
