More Ohio parents are opting out of vaccines

An increasing number of Ohio parents are using religious exemptions to delay or refuse immunizations for children amid fears that vaccines contribute to autism.
Ohio Department of Health data shows the number of religious or philosophical exemptions nearly quadrupled in Ohio between 1998 and 2008, though that figure still represents fewer than 1 in 100 children.
All states require children to be immunized for school. Most allow religious exemptions, and Ohio and 19 others also permit exemptions for personal reasons.
Doctors say they're concerned that more exemptions could lead to outbreaks of preventable illnesses among children who haven't had the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine.
For years, scientists have debunked earlier reports of a link between children's vaccines and autism.

The rising rate of Ohio exemptions is "a big concern," says Dr. Patricia Manning-Courtney, a pediatric developmental specialist and medical director of the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. "It doesn't take a lot of unvaccinated kids to start a little pocket of infection and epidemic," she says.She points to Minnesota, where last year five children became sick with Haemophilus influenzae type b, also known as Hib. Three of the cases, including one death, were in infants whose parents refused to vaccinate them. Before a vaccine became available in 1988, about 1,000 children died of Hib each year.
"Even though it's a blip ... compared to what we used to have, it makes us worried [that] this a harbinger of things to come," says Dr. Robert Frenck, an infectious diseases expert and professor of pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's.

There seems to be tremendous controversy on this subject. In fact I've been reading about it quite recently.
My take is that vaccines, MSG, mercury, thimerosal, GMOs, food coloring, flavoring, and a variety of chemicals contribute to the phenomenon of Autism. Because the disease manifests itself so differently in so many different individuals it is apparent to me that there are a myriad of cause and relationship scenarios.
We're poisoning ourselves, or allowing the multinational corporations to poison us.
There was some interesting information on this subject recently with a few blurbs about John Erb getting arrested without charges being filed. I wasn't able to find out as much as I would have liked. Erb is quite vocal about the various causes of Autism and like me feels that there are many culprits or causes.
It becomes problematic to keep up with the huge number of poisons in our small world. I have a very difficult time buying food in the grocery store. If one starts reading food labels and desires to maintain a clean diet the realization comes quite easily; there are very few foods one can buy. Currently I am eating vegetables, fruits, cheese and bread.
I'm afraid to eat meat. I'm afraid to eat fish. I am afraid to eat anything with additives that I can't pronounce. I'm afraid there is very little food that can be purchased that is 100% safe.
Even when I buy fruits and vegetables I have no way to determine if they have a pesticide content, if they were grown using GMO methods, and even worse, according to recent studies, if they are contaminated with bovine growth hormone as a result of the use of manure throughout the agricultural industry.
That's from the latest most recent studies available. Yes, we are all ingesting bovine growth hormone in relatively large quantities through the common use of agricultural manure which is used even on organically grown fruits and vegetables.
Nothing is safe.
