Blog issue: Only featured blogs are displayed on main page currently.

Nothing else has changed!

On the top of every page here it says the word "Blogs".

Under it is a drop down menu link that says "all blogs"

blogs are here too

as they have always been :)

To new comers, we periodically change the look of the main page.

Sorry about the confusion

Are the blogs in the tiny "view all" button at the bottom of the blogs display?  It

took me awhile finding it and getting used to it, but then it may be just a question of "unlearning the old ways, learning the new ones"

the pictures are a big draw for people who come here new.. having multiple pictures is too busy .. the slide show was more POWERFUL and easier on the eyes /..  Bigger is not always better but in the case of the featured pictures it is..  it was cooler the other way ;)

Thanks for the feedback. My question then is this: how many people are going to take the time to click on that extra page to view the blogs? The only blogs I have gotten any views on since the change have been featured blogs -- the rest were buried.

I also wonder how many spectators out there will know enough to click on the blogs link to find all of our postings. Ya know...

Guess we'll just have to wait and see if the new change works out :)

Of course the ultimate goal is to make the site better, so if that is what this does then I am all for it. Would be nice to hear more opinions from members :)

p2, re the groups, as with everything on the right side, groups are now seen on nearly every page on the site.  That's around 75 thousand pages now. The groups were only seen previously on main page, or if one clicked on group link.

ONLY ISSUE i SEE HERE IS THE NEED TO CLICK ONE EXTRA PAGE, TO SEE MOST CURRENT BLOGS.

As far as activity feed, it isnt suppose to be anywhere, it is where we put it greg.[

I will revisit this soon, and hope for more opinions before making anything permanent - (as permanent as we make anything permanent here :)

I am with the majority on this. I thought that my computer was not loading properly and refreshed it. But again I got this strange setup. I am not trying to be nasty about anything , but this new setup is way to difficult to maneuver, and keep track of posts.  James you are a wonderful admin, and hats off to you from all of us, but this is not the best setup.

I like having the recent activity feed in the middle of the page and its much easier to read that way.

I second KRYPKE's concerns

Thanks for the update James ;)

What I would really like to know from members is: Do you like the new front page? I don't mean to nit-pick, and James is the man doing only good things :)

But I'm not sure about the new set up. I post a couple blogs and they get buried in the activity section. The groups are way at the bottom of the page -- I worked pretty hard bringing that section back to life -- successfully might I add. I know it was slow in the group section for a couple weeks but it was hot spot for a while.

Idk, I liked the other set-up much better. Having the recent activity in the center of the page was great. Was easy to follow what everyone was doing. Now idk, it just feels TOO different.

When the color was changed I liked that. It wasn't so drastic and it worked. I feel like this may be too much change.

Thoughts?
