I love Ron and will fight for him to the end....but, we all KNOW that he will now be allowed to be the nominee.  The elitists within the GOP cannot permit that to happen.  So, what is this going to achieve?  A speech at the GOP convention....some kind of compromise on the GOP platform to appease libertarians (which, obviously, will mean nothing in the end).

If, however, RP called a news conference and announced that he was dropping out of the GOP race due to all of the mis/mal..feasance in the Maine, Iowa, S. Carolina, et al and would run as an independent or under a 3rd party flag...he could conceivably garner a plurality of the votes come November.  If he lost, however, it would still produce the probable results of a Romney/Obama fight...Obama wins.  Another good thing it would accomplish would be to cripple the GOP in the future and definitely enhance 3rd party activity.  I truly think that many traditional GOPers are now convinced that true democracy is dead, and (like myself) are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils....doing so has not saved our Republic!!!! As with an alcoholic.....the GOP needs to hit bottom.  Congress will be deadlocked and Obama will employ more unconstitutional  executive orders.

At some point, society will revolt and there will probably be blood on the streets, especially in light of the militarization of our police forces and the big corporations alignment with big government -> fascism.

The future is, indeed, bleak, but these things must occur before we can witness a turn-around (especially with the rabid Christian/proIsrael rightwingers).  I hope to be here when America 2.0 emerges.
