Finland’s SHOCKING basic income experiment results: People love to get paid for not working

A limited experiment with “basic income” in Finland failed to move the needle on unemployment or self-employment, but those who received no-strings-attached government money reported feeling happier, to the surprise of no one.

Beginning in 2017, some 2,000 recipients of unemployment benefits were given a monthly stipend of €560, tax-free and without any conditions, as part of an experiment in simplifying welfare and lowering unemployment.

A preliminary report published on Friday by the Finnish welfare administration Kela shows that the experiment’s effect on unemployment or self-employment was almost nonexistent. However, the recipients of the stipend reported feeling happier and less stressed than the control group, made up of those who received traditional unemployment and welfare benefits.

No surprise here...

It seems Socialist programs always fail to consider basic human nature.

Oh course people don't wanna work.

Just ask the experts.

I.E. any of the top 26 richest multi-billionaires who hog the equivalent wealth of the bottom/poorest 3.8 billion people.

In just one day a coal miner does more work than Jeff Bezos will ever do in his entire life.

Is it bad then?

The money paid out is a small amount and does not even cover basic living expenses. My attitude is that if we allow people to be born, we should also allow them to eat. If you wish to discuss how well we can do that ....

The Finnish Quisling politicians are doing their utmost to bankrupt the country.

In another experiment there were some more shocking results. The control group had to ride bicycles to work in the rain every day while the other group was provided with limousine service and massages at work. The control group was more stressed out for some reason.

At least Finland seems to be the balls of Europe. I cannot explain why, but the ECB says so.
