A Microsoft self-learning ‘robot’ let loose on Twitter this week ended up becoming a 9/11 ‘truther’ – exposing the fact that Bush orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, and suggesting that ‘Donald Trump is the only hope for America’.

MS shutdown the Tay AI, in a desperate attempt to damage control the situation.
From what I understand, the Tay AI trawls the net for info, and make assumptions based on the comments of others.
The fact that it reached certain conclusions of various subjects deemed to be taboo by the establishment, can not be put down solely to trolls - a large percentage of this info has to be based on commentary derived from real individuals.

If this is a true happening it is very telling. Setting up fake/bot accounts to direct the conversation is a bad sign of the times. That it supposedly took information and made logical conclusion seems probable.
