The fact that these people still continue the practice of sacrifice in their worship of whatever they consider "god" indicates the true nature of their religion. The very fist chapters of their religion start with the creation of the world. Therefore, as the creator of this world God is automatically the sole owner of it too. Consider taking something that belongs to someone else and destroying it by killing, mutilating and burning it. The logic that it would please the owner is very twisted. You cannot please God by sacrifice, you can only please his adversary.
