Infectious disease risk in swine flu jabs

LEADING infectious disease experts have called on the Federal Government to abandon its mass swine-flu vaccination plan because of fears the vaccine is a contamination risk that could spread blood-borne diseases.

Health Minister Nicola Roxon yesterday announced that the Government would start deploying its first batch of swine-flu vaccine in coming weeks, with an aim to vaccinate as many people as possible to prevent further spread of the virus.

But in a letter sent to Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer Jim Bishop, the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases expresses deep concern about CSL's use of multi-dose vials for the vaccine and urged the Government to abandon its plan until it had single-dose vials.

Swine Flu Vaccine Makers to Profit $50 Billion a Year!!

GlaxoSmithKline is preparing to sell billions worth of swine flu drugs this year. Their swine flu vaccine will be available by September, and international governments are already stockpiling large supplies of GSK's anti-viral treatment Relenza.

Worldwide sales from the two drugs are expected to be enormous, but the company rejected claims it was exploiting the pandemic.

GlaxoSmithKline has also developed an anti-viral face mask, which is expected to be used by people such as "front line health workers."

Thurman replied that Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare neurological condition that causes temporary paralysis. But that the methods used to create the current vaccine have been different since the early 1980’s.

Strangely, no one mentioned anything about the current swine-flu outbreak having to do anything with a man-made release.

Because H1N1 flu is a novel virus, parents are concerned as 12,000 children in Oklahoma are going to be tested with vaccinations for H1N1 to see whether there are any serious side effects. Some parents are complaining the only benefit is going to be for the vaccine manufacturers.

Among the parents' fears are the fear of autism, fear of children becoming paralyzed by novel reactions similar to the syndrome that occured with a different type of swine flu vaccine in 1976.

The problem is that the onset of serious side effects could take four weeks or longer to appear.

Children’s Mercy will test swine flu vaccine on 120 kids. Testing of swine flu vaccine on children could begin next week at Children’s Mercy Hospital and other medical centers nationwide.

Unless studies under way on adults turn up unexpected side effects, Children’s Mercy anticipates receiving the vaccine early in the week. Children 6 months to 17 years old are eligible for the test vaccine for the H1N1 virus. The vaccine will be given to 120 children. Public distribution of the vaccine could start in October. Obama Revives Bush-Era Militarized Quarantine Regulations

... the Obama administration "is quietly dusting off an effort to impose new federal quarantine regulations" to "contain" the H1N1 flu virus, Politico revealed.

"While any discussion of quarantine may stoke public fears of barbed wire camps filled with infected Americans or closures of international borders" Politico reports, "public health experts said that sort of approach to H1N1 flu would not be effective."

While White House officials aren't talking, Wendy Mariner, a professor of law and public health at Boston University told the publication, "it's not really going to help."

And if the H1N1 pandemic behaves in a manner similar to the 1957 outbreak of H2N2 influenza then "closing schools, stopping large gatherings and other such measures are unlikely to do much," a team of public health experts told Reuters.

"Efforts to mitigate it were futile," Brooke Courtney, a researcher with the Center for Biosecurity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center told the wire service. "In 1957 it was decided pretty early on that efforts to quarantine or isolate people would not be effective," Courtney said.

Why? Because by the time the H2N2 strain was diagnosed it was already "too widespread" for a quarantine of affected individuals to serve a useful purpose.

Despite warnings from public health researchers, the Obama administration is moving full-speed ahead. And with a September target date for new federal regulations, CDC spokeswoman Christine Pearson told Politico, "It's important to public health to move forward with the regulations. We need to update our quarantine regulations, and this final rule is an important step."

Not everyone is convinced, however.

"It doesn't surprise me that when swine flu or any other epidemic is featured prominently in the news, we see a return to quarantine and other public health regulations," said Christopher Calabrese of the American Civil Liberties Union, which sharply criticized the Bush-era proposal as too heavy-handed. "The enemy here isn't the American people or sick people. It's an illness. ... Police officers with guns cannot make people obey a quarantine. In order for this to work, it has to be collaborative. While Calabrese is certainly correct in a technical sense that "the enemy here isn't the American people or sick people," from the standpoint of a predatory national security state that views all disorder--including illness--as a dire threat to the heimat, what better means to keep the rabble in line than a state-imposed quarantine enforced by "police officers with guns"?

As Global Research analyst Michel Chossudovsky wrote in July, "it is in the interest of the political power brokers and the dominant financial actors to divert public attention from an understanding of the global crisis."

Despite clear signs that the economic crisis continues to deepen on a planetary scale and that state efforts to mitigate the greatest financial collapse since the Great Depression have failed, as World Socialist Web Site analyst Barry Grey points out, the Federal Reserve Board's "upbeat assessment" fails to take into account that "new data on unemployment, home foreclosures, home prices and retail sales painted a picture of growing economic distress for tens of millions of Americans."

But "growing economic distress" for the majority of Americans have translated into rising corporate profits "on the basis of a deep and protracted decline in the wages, working conditions and wealth of the working class."

Under such dire conditions, combustible social fuel could lead to an unprecedented political explosion. Therefore, as Chossudovsky observes "an atmosphere of fear and intimidation which serves to weaken and disarm organized dissent" must be manufactured, one whose "objective is to undermine all forms of opposition and social resistance."

Fears of 1976 ‘Swine Flu Debabcle’ Emerging
(ChattahBox)—The British newspapers are reporting on a leaked letter sent from a government health agency to the country’s neurologists, requesting that the specialists be on the lookout for increased cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome, (GBS) a rare nerve disorder, in light of the upcoming swine flu vaccination program.

Although the World Health Organization reassured the public about the safety of the newly developed swine flu vaccine, Britain’s National Health Service is putting a monitoring system in place to track any adverse effects from the vaccine, with enhanced surveillance for cases of GBS, after the vaccinations begin.

According to The Times, the letter was sent by Britain’s Health Protection Agency, after studying the problems with the 1976 swine flu vaccine administered in the United States, which was linked to hundreds of cases of GBS, including 25 deaths. When cases of GBS began to emerge, the vaccination program was halted.

Since the so called 1976 “Swine Flu Debacle,” the technology for developing vaccines has significantly improved in the past 33 years, and experts say their safety should not be a concern.

Indeed, in a recent study published by CDC scientists in the journal Drug Safety, the study found that flu vaccines since 1976, have not produced any serious side effects. The only direct link to GBS was attributed to the 1976 batch of swine flu vaccine.

The Internet is abuzz with news about the construction of internment camps all across America. Of course, "mainstream" media outlets refuse to touch the
subject; or if they do, they pooh-pooh the story; they do what Glenn
Beck recently did: try to debunk the story as fallacious and impugn
people who speak of it as "conspiracy nuts." The fact that the Becks,
Hannitys, Limbaughs, and O'Reillys of the media circus refuse to deal
with the construction of large numbers of internment camps does not
make them disappear, however.
