November 10, 2009 Both the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade energy approved earlier this year and the version just okayed by Sen. Barbara Boxer’s Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s Democrats (Republicans boycotted the vote) contains an obscure but nasty bureaucratic provision that requires President Obama to act like Venezuelan strong man Hugo Chavez.
Here’s how: The bills require a federal declaration of a “climate emergency”… Continue

Lately I have been using the phrase “Corporate Communism” on my television show. I think it is an especially fitting term when discussing the current landscape in both our banking and health care systems.
As Americans, I believe we reject communism because it historically has allowed a tiny group of people to consolidate complete control over… Continue

In this 4 minute excerpt from his speech, he issues a dire warning to all Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty, scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009. A draft of the petition can be read here: pdf

Today, the director of the Congressional Budget Office warned the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee that proposed climate change legislation would impose "significant costs" on America's GDP and employment. That’s not exactly what proponents had promised.
According to CBO chief Douglas Elmendorf, the Waxman-Markey bill passed in the House last June would reduce GDP by between one and three quarters of a percent by 2020, and between 1 and… Continue

Evidence continues to accumulate from far and wide that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now is lousy with corruption. The latest revelations come from Louisiana and Oklahoma. In the former, the local ACORN Housing Corp. office received contracts worth a combined $625,000 from the City of New Orleans for repairing existing low-income housing and developing new units in poor neighborhoods. The contracts were paid for with… Continue

Imagine that, the Fed who is supposedly semi-private a government entity voted not to open its books even for Geithner. It would be a whitewash anyways but...wow not even Geithner. It says further down that the Fed is trying to keep a low profile right now. Hmmm I wonder why that would be. Shouldn't it be standing tall showing that it made the right choices and stands by those choices? Maybe the Fed board members are a little worried about what damage Ron Paul's bill may… Continue

James Grimmelman sez:
"The Associated Press -- which thinks you owe it a license fee if you quote more than four words from one of its articles -- doesn't even care if the words actually came from its article. They'll charge you anyway, even if you're quoting from the public domain.
I picked a random AP article and went to their "reuse options" site. Then, when they… Continue
Let us begin today with full disclosure: For those who don't know my position on global warming alarmism and its insidious uses, it is that this phenomenon is the greatest hoax in modern times and is being used to achieve things - bad things - quite apart from its ostensible goal of "saving the planet."
Al Gore wanders the spheroid he is determined to save, spouting increasingly inane observations as his bank account grows and his "carbon footprint" becomes ever more Godzilla-like,… Continue

Washington - As members of Congress debate a measure aimed at slowing the effects of global warming, Midwestern lawmakers, manufacturers and farmers are warning that the legislation could be costly to the heartland at a time when families and businesses are already struggling financially.
States in the Midwest, including Wisconsin, get much… Continue

June 15 (Bloomberg) -- Paul McCartney, the former Beatle and vegetarian pop star, asked fans to go meatless on Mondays to help slow global warming by reducing the amount of gaseous emissions from farm animals.
Cows, pigs and sheep bred for human consumption discharge millions of tons of methane, a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Livestock emissions account for about 18 percent of greenhouse gases, more than all the world’s cars, the United… Continue

Apr. 28, 2009 "Salon" ---
There is evidence there will be a major flu epidemic this coming fall. The indication is that we will see a return of the 1918 flu virus that is the most virulent form of the flu. In 1918 a half million Americans died. The projections are that this… Continue

John Riley: Long Island/Queens Congressman Gary Ackerman — who sounds like he would make a pretty good blogger — went off on a panel of witnesses from the SEC yesterday, accusing them of total incompetence in failing to discover what was going on with Bernie Madoff.
This being the same outraged Ackerman who, as a member of the House Financial Services Committee, did such a great job in discovering the entire economy was about to… Continue
