Developing nations at the UN nuclear watchdog are backing Iran’s push to debate a ban on military attacks targeting nuclear facilities at a meeting of the IAEA next month.
Israel, which along with Western powers fears Iran’s declared civilian nuclear energy programme is a front for bombmaking, has not ruled out military action to prevent Tehran acquiring atom bombs and threatening the Jewish state.
An Afghan man detained for six-and-a-half years in Guantanamo Bay, the US military detention centre in Cuba, is to sue the US government, his lawyer has said.

Not only would it reduce cost, but we, the public, could keep tabs on their antics and kick ass when needed . .
Here:
When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers. The remaining workers must find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well.
Wall street, and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision", and… Continue
More Americans are having their power shut off as the weak economy makes it harder to pay bills.
"We see record numbers of households becoming disconnected or in danger of disconnection," says Mark Bixby, energy director of Rockford, Ill. Five years ago, his office distributed federal funds annually to about 300 households that had their power cut off. Last year, it was 1,834 households, and the number is likely to go up this year, he says: "It's families… Continue

This is part of a report that is suppose to be in the BHO health care fiasco. The person who is bringing this to our attention says it lies buried deep within the over 1,000 pages of the massive US Health Care Bill (PDF) in a “non-discussed” section titled: Subtitle C-11 Sec. 2521— National Medical Device Registry, and which states its purpose as:
“The Secretary shall establish a national medical device registry (in this subsection referred to as the ‘registry’) to facilitate… Continue

Earlier today we reported on the sources that the Department of Homeland Security used in their "Right-Wing Extremism" report. It appeared after reading through all the information, that the primary sources used in this report were all gathered from a hasty Google search. Millions… Continue
I wrote earlier today about Eric Holder's decision to "review" whether criminal prosecutions are warranted in connection with the torture of Terrorism suspects -- that can be read here -- but I want to write separately about the release today of the 2004 CIA's Inspector General Report (.pdf), both because it's extraordinary in its own right and because it underscores how unjust it would be to prosecute only low-level interrogators rather than the high-level officials who implemented the torture… Continue

Aim for the sky I always say. The news was bad enough that the administration released the info at the same time it announced Bernake was Obama's nomination for another term in order to deflect attention. Using tactics that Bush used...sad from the man of change. Politicians...huh...what are they good for, ..absolutely nothing!
While nearly eight out of 10 Americans say they favor a "public option" insurance plan in national health care reform proposals now before Congress, fewer than four out of 10 can correctly define what a public option means, a new poll underwritten by AARP shows.
Those and other poll findings are bad news for President Barack Obama, who's facing the possible defeat of most or all of one of his administration's highest-priority goals -- health care reform -- and the increasing… Continue
