His brother Carmine Appice...OG Drummer for 60's radio blah blah band- Vanilla Fudge... and also Cactus, the power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice, Rod Stewart, and macheezmo 80's metal hair band- King Kobra, and Blue Murder. Did a stint w/ Leslie West's "Mountain" as well..Is a regular in Modern Drummer Magazine, and has video series of how-to's on drumming,the biz...yadda yadda...had a buncha his learning VHS tapes growing up
