I wrote earlier today about Eric Holder's decision to "review" whether criminal prosecutions are warranted in connection with the torture of Terrorism suspects -- that can be read here -- but I want to write separately about the release today of the 2004 CIA's Inspector General Report (.pdf), both because it's extraordinary in its own right and because it underscores how unjust it would be to prosecute only low-level interrogators rather than the high-level officials who implemented the torture…

Aim for the sky I always say. The news was bad enough that the administration released the info at the same time it announced Bernake was Obama's nomination for another term in order to deflect attention. Using tactics that Bush used...sad from the man of change. Politicians...huh...what are they good for, ..absolutely nothing!

While nearly eight out of 10 Americans say they favor a "public option" insurance plan in national health care reform proposals now before Congress, fewer than four out of 10 can correctly define what a public option means, a new poll underwritten by AARP shows.
Those and other poll findings are bad news for President Barack Obama, who's facing the possible defeat of most or all of one of his administration's highest-priority goals -- health care reform -- and the increasing…

KENNEDY TRIES TO CHANGE LAW (AGAIN) SO WIFE CAN SUCCEED HIM
by: Jon Ryter
In 2004 when Sen. John Kerry was running for President, the legislators in that State realized that if he prevailed in the general election, under State law at the time, moderate Republican governor Mitt Romney would be allowed to appoint Kerry's replacement for the remaining four years of Kerry's 4th term as a US Senator.
The Massachusetts legislature…

Russia has declassified top-secret surveillance documents in an attempt to justify its occupation of Eastern Europe under the Nazi-Soviet pact, signed 70 years ago on Sunday.
The hidden protocols of the pact, in which Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler agreed to carve up Poland and other sovereign states, were denounced by the Soviet parliament in 1989, shortly after they were revealed for the first…

Well we knew, but crossed our fingers that this wouldn't happen. It's happening, I can't wait for all the spin to start. The article fails to mention that there are card scanners that can read a person's card from 10 feet or more away. I have no clue if protective card sleeves work or not. The cards are not secure, further they necessitate all your information being stored in one place. Way to easy for someone to learn everything about you and your life just by walking…

I wonder once we default, send the world into a depression or both which states China will decide to annex? California? So then movies will say made in China. I support tax increases and program cutting when used for the right reasons and after being thoroughly examined with other alternatives. America is ____________. (Insert word you feel is appropriate) At minimum bankrupt. Nine trillion dollars needs to be paid. The best situation we could hope for would be an exponential increase in job…

It’s a full time occupation trying to unravel the reasons Americans remain in the dark. What seems ( to any intelligent outside observer ) like sheer stupidity and arrogance is in reality an almost inescapable indoctrination process that begins before you are born, and ends some time after your dead. It is a system so complex and all encompassing that few can recognize any reality outside of it at all, and that of course is its intended purpose.
The astonishing amount of rage…

Israeli newspapers this summer are filled with angry articles about the push for an international boycott of Israel. Films have been withdrawn from Israeli film festivals, Leonard Cohen is under fire around the world for his decision to perform in Tel Aviv and Oxfam has severed ties with a celebrity spokeswoman, an actress who also endorses cosmetics produced in the occupied territories. Clearly, the campaign to use the kind of tactics that helped put an end to the…

I received this from a relative in Oklahoma this morning. I have corrected a few spelling errors and removed a name but, for the most part, it is in the original form. I would add that some of the structure is hard to follow because the person writing the first E thinks and types at the same time. He knows what he means but we have to read it twice to get the real intent.
There are two Es and reference to an original but the story comes together just fine.... the story about the public…

I'll bet those three astronauts that got burned alive in an experimental chamber were potential whistle blowers. How could they not have been under constant surveillance? Oh sure....somebody fell a sleep at the switch. Is anyone as old as me? I remeber hearing the tapes of them screaming as they burned to their death.
Also in this website, they talk about the flag blowing in the wind. I remember…

This is somewhat good news mixed in with all the bad news lately. A majority of Americans are now opposed to the war in Afghanistan and I think we'll see the opposition numbers grow in the up and coming months! We've got to take any good news we can get right now and capitalize on it!!!!
