(CNSNews.com) - American journalism is in "grave peril," FCC Commissioner Michael Copps says, and to bolster "traditional media," he said the Federal Communications Commission should conduct a "public value test" of every… Continue
A study of ancient bodies has determined that cancer is a man-made disease, one fueled by the excesses. Tumors turn out to be extremely rare until very recent times, when pollution and poor diet became issues.
Researchers analyzed potential references to the disease in classical literature, and also searched for signs in the fossil record and in mummified bodies. But despite examining tissue from hundreds of Egyptian mummies, they confirmed only one case of… Continue
No, I'm not leaving the site. I have however just pulled my membership from MANY groups. It's not personal just practical. I've reset the email attached to my account to one that I actually receive and read on a regular basis in order to receive group notifications from the '12160 admin steering committee group'. The email address in question gets forwarded to my cell phone so basically I'm just trying to avoid getting 9,000,000 group emails every day on my cell phone.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The Federal Reserve made $9 trillion in overnight loans to major banks and Wall Street firms during the financial crisis, according to newly revealed data released Wednesday.
The loans were made through a special loan program set up by the Fed in the wake of the Bear Stearns collapse in March 2008 to keep the nation's bond markets trading normally.
President Obama’s proposal of a pay freeze for federal employees is a small step towards curbing government spending. However, a closer look shows there is less to it than meets the eye. In fact, many federal employees will still see their salaries increased.
While Obama’s plan would stop the annual across-the-board cost of living adjustment (COLA) for all federal workers, it will not stop workers from getting raises altogether. The freeze will not affect pay raises for job… Continue
Plainclothes troopers from the Greensburg barracks Wednesday began patrolling Westmoreland Mall and other retail outlets, a crime prevention program that is believed to be a first in the state. The goal is to put a crimp in retail theft and far more serious offenses, including terrorism.
The patrols will continue through the holiday shopping season into the first week or two of January, said state police spokesman Stephen… Continue

It’s hard for most people to even think about the possibility of nuclear war. They have completely lost their fear of nuclear war. It can’t happen! Unfortunately, that’s not true, and I’m going to show you why.
How can one possibly know that nuclear war approaches? History provides the clues we’re looking for. Just like history informs us when a forest is susceptible to a major forest fire. The exact timing might be impossible to figure out, but we can know the… Continue

“The great wars of history — we have had a world-war about every hundred years for the last four centuries — are the outcome, direct or indirect, of the unequal growth of nations, and that unequal growth is not wholly due to the greater genius and energy of some nations as compared with others; in large measure it is the result of the uneven distribution of fertility and strategical opportunity upon the face…Continue

All hail, Public Opinion! To be sure, it is a dangerous thing under which
to live. It rules to-day in the desire to obey all kinds of laws, and takes
your life. It rules again in the love of liberty, and rescues Shadrach from
Boston Court House. It rules to-morrow in the manhood of him who loads
the musket to shoot down, — God be praised ! — the man… Continue

Revealed by US Congressman Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr. from Minnesota before the US Congress sometime during his term of office between the years of 1907 and 1917 to warn the citizens.
"We (the bankers) must proceed with caution and guard every move made, for the lower order of people (that's YOU!) are already showing signs of restless commotion. Prudence will therefore show a policy of apparently yielding to the popular will until our plans are so far… Continue

"This morning Amazon informed my staff that it has ceased to host the WikiLeaks website," US Senator Joe Lieberman said in a statement.
Senator Lieberman said Amazon's decision to cut off WikiLeaks "is the right decision and should set the standard for other companies WikiLeaks is using to distribute its illegally seized material".
Dirty money of the federal reserve: These letters indicate that the BIS (Bank of International Settlements) is really nothing more than a trade organization with no regulatory power. This means that organizations such as the Federal Reserve are free to act as they see fit, with no over site or accountability.…

Are you ready to give up cash, and maybe even give up your credit cards? I'm not, but there are plenty of companies -- from Google to AT&T -- that think we will.
The idea has been around for more than 20 years but has never come to fruition, because the basic technological tools weren't readily available. Now they are. They're called smartphones.
Earlier this month, Google waved around a prototype Android phone with a… Continue
