Syrian crisis 'could kill 100,000 in next year'

The international envoy to Syria has warned that as many as 100,000 people could die in the next year if a way cannot be found quickly to end the country's civil war.

Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN-Arab League envoy for the Syrian crisis, told reporters in Cairo on Sunday that if the crisis continued Syria would not be divided into states "like what happened in Yugoslavia" but would face "Somalisation, which means warlords, and the Syrian people will be persecuted by those who control their fate".

Whatever the population is now we will see it drop fast Larry. I still think years ago what I heard will be carried out and Iran will be the beginning of the end. I believe all the big boys will step in. Nukes to start with (limited), then biological for a while, then all out nukes. 3.6 billion may be what the start with on the initial strikes. Nobody wins a war in reality, but they will say they do. First though I think they will disarm or at least try, America... just as with Canada and other countries.

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah warned Al-Qaeda on Sunday that it had been tricked into fighting in Syria, and that the rebellion would not be able to topple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad militarily.

"The Americans, Europeans and some governments in the Arab and Muslim world have set a trap for you in Syria," the head of Lebanon's most powerful military force said.

The footage shows terrorists testing a chemical substance on a rabbit in the coastal city of Latakia, the Lebanese television al-Manar reported.

In related development, the armed rebels used chemical weapons in their attacks against the Syrian army in Darya district of Reef (outskirts of) Damascus earlier today.
